Still plugging away
Jenni and John added comments to my last entry. They are such sweethearts and we love them so much.
Tonight we are going to live theater. We've had season tickets for several years and enjoy it very much. Of course, you all know that if it weren't for Jane, I'd never step out of the house. She keeps me going.
We sold my car. It was a struggle but after several false starts we advertised on line and a young woman from San Diego bought it. So I'm officially wheeless now. Have to turn my license into the DMV soon. Poor Jane has to provide my transportation everywhere now.

Hmmm.... about poor Jane having to provide all of your transportation...She loves you dad. SHE LOVES YOU! You would do the same for her. I need a schedule of your apts. and such. I have time now and I want to take you places. I will also let mom know this. Why? Because I LOVE YOU DAD!

I know how you must be feeling, Don. I too will have to turn over my license soon. Bless you Jane for being the caring person you are. Both of you take care and hugs.

Dear friends of Donald O....
I'm Jane, Don's wife. I don't write on Don's blog often but do read it regularly. I wanted to update you all on "happenings" here at home.
I found Don unconscious on the garage floor yesterday a.m. Paramedics arrived quickly and after a day at the hospital he was released to home care. He has a couple stitches on his forehead, a concussion, and a fractured rib. The rib is really painful. He says he's never experienced such pain. This from a guy who has had double knee replacements and hip replacement! If you remember , he had very little pain with those surgeries. He's experiencing occasional dizziness. I'm thinking of tying a rope around his waist and mine or hooking a cow bell to his ankle or waist, maybe both. I walked out of the bedroom this morning to tell him I'd go out and pick up the newspaper and there he was walking in the door with it. This meant he had walked out of the garage and down a sloping drive and then bent over to pick it up.
The part of the brain this terrible disease seems to be having the most fun with with Don is in the area of judgment. I've told him we really need to be careful with decisions, etc. cause that's where most of our difficulty comes. An example is the scam businesses on the phone and internet. These people are getting more clever every day keeping me busy answering the phone before Don does. They talk very fast and have him agreeing to a "trial period" that sometimes I find out about and sometimes I don't. He seems to always say "ok". I found 5 "trial" charges on our bank account this past week. I called the companys and the scary thing is that they played back the tape they had made of their conversation with Don and I heard Don's voice okaying the purchase but he did not give them our credit card # because he doesn't have it anymore. The company calling already had it!!!! And used it!!! Let that be an alert for all you out there. I called the police and they couldn't do anything about it. I went to the bank and filed a fraud charge but it's ridiculous because the initial trial fee is just $2.95. Then if you don't cancel within 30 days it shifts to 29.95 a month and becomes very difficult to cancel (from my past experience). The past 3 days one of these businesses has called at least once a day asking for Don, when I say he can't talk and can I help them they hang up. This morning the woman calling said something rude to me before hanging up.
